Sponsorship Scheme to Encourage the Reduction of Greenhouse Gas Emissions in Enterprises

Sponsorship Scheme to Encourage the Reduction of Greenhouse Gas Emissions in Enterprises

In order to achieve the EU’s 2030 climate targets, it becomes necessary for the Republic of Cyprus to implement additional decarbonisation policies and measures through innovative and effective financing mechanisms.

The Plan aims to provide financial incentives in the form of government sponsorship to encourage GHG emission reductions through the submission of documents and studies (see Paragraph 12 of the Guidebook) that include specific actions whose implementation is aimed at reducing GHG emissions. The government grant will be provided at a rate, depending on the size of the enterprise, for the preparation of the eligible categories of expenditure described in Paragraph 12.1 and will apply ONLY to such expenditure.

The Eligible Expenditures are the costs of the study or consulting service related to deliverables (a) through (e) below:

(a) in the preparation of a monitoring plan for greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions resulting from their business activities,

(b) an inventory of the GHGs resulting from the activities of their business in relation to the reference year (average 2022-2023), excluding new entrants as defined in this Plan Implementation Guidebook,

(c) a verification of the inventory of WEEE resulting from the activities of their undertaking in relation to the reference year (average 2022-2023) in accordance with ISO 14064-1,

(d) the preparation of a GHG Reduction Action Plan up to 2030 containing, inter alia, investments/actions included in the categories of actions/investments in paragraph 12.5; and

(e) validation of the future (estimated) GHG emission reductions or removals for each action included in the Beneficiary’s Action Plan up to 2030, in accordance with ISO 14064-2.
